Book Review: Teen Titans Raven by Kami Garcia

Books with pictures are always fascinating. For those who can’t read much or find it difficult to read novels, graphic novels are a great option.

Teen Titans Raven by Kami Garcia is a graphic novel telling the story of a seventeen year old girl named Raven, who after an unfortunate accident loses her foster mother as well as her memory.  Raven has completely forgotten what sort of a person she was before the accident.

She is then brought to her foster mother’s family. It’s during her senior year at high school, when some strange and unexplainable things start to happen. On account of these events, a thought begins to prompt out of her mind, what if it is all related to her past? And she soon realises that it can’t be avoided.

The plot is very much captivating with lots of fun moments in between. Gabriel Picolo has beautifully illustrated it in a grey black & purple palette that looks astonishing.

I personally didn’t like the main character, Raven, as much as I liked that of her foster sister Max. Raven is shown always confused in her thoughts and actions while on the other side Max is lively, cool and confident. However, I loved the bond between them. Overall this graphic novel is an enjoyable and enthralling read.
