The Vampire Maid by Hume Nisbet is a short classic tale of a man who is seeking a little break from his city life, ultimately settling in a stone-built cottage on a cliff facing a moor where he comes across a widow and her Daughter. Slowly the nameless protagonist becomes comfortable with the place and soon he falls in love with the daughter. This story is just 14 pages long and can be read in less than 30 minutes. It is a supernatural story, as it is obvious from the title of the book. The plot of the story is very much predictable because of the author’s writing. However the description of the cottage and the surrounding place is great, it is written in such a manner that you can imagine it. The ending is abrupt and not so shocking; there is no angle of a big or an amazing twist. Don’t expect high from this story.
Not much to say about it, It’s just a time pass read.
